FLYING TO MOROCCO FROM INDIA

Flight Information

Morocco is an easy 18 hour flight from Bengaluru with stops across Delhi & Bahrain

Here  are options hat you could look into while flying out from Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport

 Option 1 (Budget)

  • Fly Indigo from Bangalore to Delhi.  Take a morning flight so that you have sufficient time to connect flights form Terminal 1 to Terminal 3.
  • Delhi International Terminal could be a nightmare considering the traffic and the wait time for Immigration as well as baggage check in security.  Give yourself an easy three hours between Delhi terminals in order to get to the gate on time.
  • Fly from Delhi to Bahrain via Gulf Air.  I managed to get a round trip flight from Bengaluru to Morocco all inclusive under 38,000 INR
  • One in Bahrain, your international gate timings would be close.  Hence we suggest that you take ample time for checkin between gates.
  • Bahrain to Casablanca is a on stop 9 hour flight.

Feedback on flights taken via Gulf Air:

  • The Plane itself is a good plane but the management and upkeep of sanitation of these flights are poor.

Option 2: (A slightly expensive option)

  • Fly Qatar from Bengaluru to Doha and connect to Casablanca via Doha
  • Less stressful and lower number of connections
  • Flight costs are around 48,000 to 50,000
  • Big difference in pricing from Gulf Air to Qatar

Visa Information

Please note that for a regular visa application, this will take anything between 4-6 weeks to get your Visa processed.  So, be ready for the long wait in getting an answer back from the Moroccan authorities.

Indian nationals may apply for a temporary visitor's visa for pleasure, multiple entry, for just the defined period of travel

Paper Processing for a trip to morocco is a nightmare.  It is much more than what you would require to apply for a schengan visa so please be prepared!

You can use Thomas Cook from India to get this done for you

To feel the actual heritage of Morocco, you can stay at the Riads in Morocco.  Riads are more like Home-stay old heritage buildings with architecture dating around 600 BC.

Moving Around

Casablanca is the place to get to know the culture, history and people of Morocco.

It’s also a great, centrally-located base for adventuring down the coast. Places of interest include: Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca Cathedral, Central Market, Mohammedia (A quick hop on a train), Azemmour and El Jadida.

Ever wanted to check off multiple outdoor adventures all in one region of one

country? Well, lush valleys, cool canyons and the highest peak in North Africa make

Morocco’s expansive Atlas Mountains the ultimate playground.

The “Red City” of Marrakesh is a magical place, brimming with markets, gardens,

palaces, and mosques. Exploring the intimate courtyards and snaking alleyways of the historic Medina can easily eat up a day. Find inner peace at the serene Jardin Majorelle or take in the beauty of one of the city’s historic mosques (Courtesy: Trip Advisor).

Rabat await travellers in this magical Moroccan city. The modern capital city of

Morocco, Rabat is home to many contemporary attractions as well as a large number of historic sites and impressive scenery. It is home to the country’s most important museum, as well as a long list of other popular tourist attractions. It is also one of the

prettiest cities and it has been named a top destination by several organizations

including being the world heritage site and an architectural marvel of the world

Couple of tips to take care of while moving around

Safety

Always leave your belongings in a hotel  where you're staying prior to walking around.  Carry only what is required for shopping for the day

Shopping

Most Shopping can be done in Marrakech markets.  You will find many types handicrafts and small trinket items to shop.  Be careful of some of the vendors.  They might try and sell you items at an exorbitant rate.  Always negotiate for a discounted price.  Believe me, you can go as low as 50% for an item and be able to purchase them as well.

Driving and Moving Around

We recommend that when you travel around, you rent a scooter from a local store where you could move around from point to point just to have different landscaped views of the island.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

AUG THROUGH OCT

Trust me on this.  The fares are cheaper while flying out from Delhi during the month of  AUG through Octo.  Starting November, the rates tend to peak upwards.

As per the weather, it held and it was not peak season either, so it was a win win for all of us.

EAT AND SHOP

WHAT TO EAT

The most popular dish would be the Tagine made either form Beef or Chicken.  This dish is more of a vegetable mix infused with meat and boiled in their local cuisine sauces or broth.
